No-exam life insurance

Explanation of fast-track underwriting: who qualifies, the process, and the situation if you do not qualify.

Carriers increasingly offer expedited underwriting that permits fast decisions: rather than requiring a physical exam, they assess applicants using application responses, prescription data, driving history, and other documentation. Approvals can happen within hours. This site's quotes show whether each product requires an exam, may require one, or does not require one.

What it changes

Accelerated underwriting still involves full verification of your statements. Policies issued based on false information may be challenged by the carrier within the first 24 months. The carrier retains the right to request testing or exams if additional questions arise from their review; you choose whether to move forward at that point.

Who tends to qualify

Most approvals come through for those under about age 60 applying for coverage amounts within the carrier's accelerated approval threshold, without serious health conditions and without tobacco consumption in the past 12 months. Some carriers will also accept recent lab results from a doctor's appointment as a substitute for an exam.

A paramedical examiner typically comes to your location in the Buena Park area for a 20- to 30-minute appointment, with no cost to you. Good health results can actually lead to a lower rate tier, so the exam can work in your favor.
